Around 30 minutes from Melton Mowbray, Easton Holiday Cottages offer a peaceful place to stay in the Lincolnshire countryside, surrounded by the historic Easton Estate and its 12-acre Walled Gardens.
Our collection of cottages has grown from a desire to give old estate buildings a new life. Each has its own character, from cosy places for two to larger cottages for family and friends. With Melton Mowbray, the Vale of Belvoir, Stamford and Rutland all within easy reach, Easton makes an excellent base for exploring the border country between Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.
Guests staying with us also have Easton Walled Gardens on their doorstep. The gardens have been restored over the past 25 years and are particularly special early in the morning and towards evening, when staying guests can enjoy them outside normal visitor hours.
Through the year there is always something different to see: snowdrops and spring bulbs, blossom and roses, meadow flowers and, in summer, Easton’s renowned sweet peas.
The Head Gardener's House
The Head Gardener’s House is a spacious cottage for four at Easton Walled Gardens, with two bedrooms and views across the gardens.
It’s a lovely choice for couples, friends or a small family wanting a little more space, with the gardens and Courtyard close by and plenty to explore in the surrounding countryside.
Melton Mowbray and the Vale of Belvoir are within easy reach, while Stamford, Rutland and the wider Lincolnshire countryside give you plenty of options for days out.
A country escape near Melton Mowbray
The Cholmeley family has lived at Easton since 1561. For generations, life here centred around Easton Hall and its gardens, until the upheavals of the 20th century changed the Estate forever. The Hall was eventually demolished and, for decades, the gardens were largely left to nature.
In 2001, Ursula and Fred Cholmeley began the long process of bringing the gardens back to life. Rather than recreating a garden from another age, the surviving walls, terraces, bridge and other historic structures became the framework for the garden you see today.
That same approach runs through our holiday cottages. Old estate buildings have been carefully restored and adapted into comfortable places to stay, retaining their individual character and their connection with Easton.
Whether you’re looking for a weekend away, a dog-friendly cottage or somewhere for family and friends to gather, Easton is well placed for exploring Melton Mowbray, the Vale of Belvoir and this part of the East Midlands.

Melton Mowbray is one of England’s best-known food towns, famous for Melton Mowbray pork pies and its association with Stilton cheese. Its markets and food heritage make it an enjoyable destination for a morning or afternoon, with the surrounding Leicestershire countryside worth exploring in its own right.
Between Easton and Melton lies the Vale of Belvoir, an attractive stretch of villages, farmland and rolling countryside dominated by Belvoir Castle. It’s a particularly good area for a leisurely drive, a country walk or lunch at one of the village pubs.
Stamford and Rutland are also within easy reach, so a stay at Easton gives you the freedom to explore several quite different parts of the local area without travelling far.
