day 1 - Arrival & Settling In
Journey from London or Heathrow
Arrive via:
- Train from London King’s Cross to Grantham (just over 1 hour) and then a taxi to Easton (about 15 minutes)
- Or via a hire car from the Airport (this is recommended, to take best advantage of this itinerary).
We recommend arriving in the afternoon, allowing time to settle in to your cottage after travelling from the U.S.
Afternoon
- Check into your cottage, have a cup of coffee, or even tea.
- Take a gentle walk around the Easton Walled Gardens
Evening
- Dinner at a nearby country pub, The Cholmeley Arms
- Or a relaxed evening in your cottage
day 2 - Gardens & Countryside
Morning
- A slow breakfast in your cottage
- A walk in Easton Walled Gardens to explore more fully
- A light lunch and some shopping in The Courtyard at Easton Walled Gardens, with its lifestyle, stationery and artists’ shops.
Afternoon Options
- Visit Grimsthorpe Castle for views and history
- Explore local villages and countryside
- Enjoy a long countryside walk
Evening
- Dinner out or cook locally sourced food
- Quiet evening — this is where Easton really shines
day 3 - Lincoln & Culture
Morning
- Drive or take a taxi to Lincoln (around a 50 minute drive to the city centre)
In Lincoln
- Visit Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle
- Walk the historic streets, especially Steep Hill
- Lunch at Doddington Hall
Afternoon
- Visit Doddington Hall and Gardens
- Return to Easton
- Walk around the Gardens or have a quiet time in your cottage
Evening
- Dinner at a local pub
day 4 - Burghley House and Stamford
Morning
- Drive or take a taxi to Burghley House (about a 25 minute drive)
- Visit the House and walk in the grounds
- Have lunch in the onsite restaurant
Afternoon
- A short, 10 minute drive into the Georgian town of Stamford
- Wander around the pretty streets, do some shopping, have afternoon tea at the historic George Hotel
- Return to Easton and relax in the gardens or your cottage
Evening
- Final evening — slow, quiet, memorable
day 5 - goodbye
Departure
- Taxi to Grantham and a train to London or onward travel
- Drive back to the airport or explore more of the UK
